Structure of GP Training
Basic Structure
Before entering GP Training, doctors will have completed, as a minimum:
• Initial medical degree
• Intern year in hospital
Plus many will have done additional years in hospital.
Once they commence General Practice Training, they will undertake:

Some registrars will undertake additional terms in general practice (Mandatory Elective term or Elective term)
The training program is normally three years
There is an option of a fourth year to do an Advanced Rural Skills Post
