Overview of Teaching Frameworks for Terms 1 & 2

We have collected together some teaching resources for supervisors, to assist them with the structured teaching sessions. These have been sent to the supervisors of Term 1 and 2 registrars in a large ring binder. They are also available on the Supervisor section of this website.

The frameworks include some of the things that supervisors already do such as sitting in with registrars and completing various evaluation forms. There are also some specific modules for teaching important topics. In term 1 these are some common and basic areas in which registrars need to come up to speed fairly quickly eg

• Modules for Term 1 – prescribing, hypertension, diabetes, pap smears, depression etc

Term 2 modules involve more complex presentations in older patients

• Modules for Term 2 – Shortness of Breath, confusion, falls, incontinence,giddiness

Each module provides some reading, questions or tasks for the registrar to complete.
