Summary of Payments to Practices for GP Terms
Notes 1. Practice subsidy is paid for 26 weeks per term i.e. it is still paid if the GP registrar is on annual leave. 2. Teaching Allowance is paid at $130 per hour. This is paid for the hours of teaching that are actually delivered in a particular week. Teaching is not expected during the weeks when the registrar attends a two or three day workshop, it is not expected during the weeks when the registrar receives a teaching visit and, of course, it is not expected when the registrar is on annual leave. There may be times when teaching falls behind the allocated three hours per week. When this happens the practice should endeavour to catch up on the time and payment will be made accordingly. If teaching time is in excess of the expected number of hours per term, this will be paid subject to budget constraints. 3. An additional teaching allowance payment of three hours (not included in the table above). is paid for a three hour orientation session in the first week of GP term 1 for both full-time and part-time registrars. An adequate orientation to the practice and to General Practice is most important for the smooth functioning of the term. |
